Default 001 inputs= urban legend?

are there really differences in the converter quality amongst the inputs? (1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 7+8)...many claim inputs 3+4 are better than the others?

I don't think so...I have heard absolutely no difference. I think they're the same.

The converters are all the same, but the first two inputs may sound a little different because the analog circuitry is different (preamps etc). You may have gotten the impression that 3/4 are "better" than the others because those are the inputs you can use in monitor mode, but sonically they're not any different than 5-8.
