Default sync dat or DA88?

Just a general question to all seasoned post people; which would you choose to get first in putting together a post set-up - a sync dat or a sync DA88? (I understand both is the best answer. but which would you purchase first?) Any recommended decks?
Thanks to all replies.

Generally I'd say that a DA-88 would be the first choice for a time code machine, the main reason being that unless your primary work is as a dialog editor, you will probably use the DA-88 more, for digitizing splits, for archiving and for delivery to a dubbing stage. If you do have elements delivered on time code dat, you can always have a transfer done to DA-88 somewhere else. Unless you are dealing with studio features, I've found that 80 percent or more of music cues are delivered either on DA-88 or non-timecode dat with a 2 pop. You can always find a good used time code dat at a later date when you can afford one.
