Default X-form rendering error

Hi,

I have a problem with Film to Pal rendering. X-form is very slow but I can accept that because it does the conversion so well. Anyway to convert 24fps film mix to 25fps Pal takes very long time and I need to do it for all the reels and M&E mix too. So I have usually 10 to 12 6trk files to render. It takes hours and therefore it would be convenient to leave the x-form rendering over night. Problem is that the process crashes almost every time. There is an error like "assertion volumes etc." Forgot to write it down this morning. So, I need to render the files one at a time and it's very frustrating just to sit by the computer. Any ideas how to render multiple files at a time?

MacPro 2x2,66 6-core Intel Xeon

OS X 10.9.5
PT 11.3.1.370
X-form 11.2.2

Now it crashed again and here's the message:

Could not complete your request because Assertion in "/Volumes/Development/151228/ProTools/App/MacBuild/../AS/AS_PlayListCommandBase.cpp", line 1756.

Hi,

I did a search about x-form and found similar symptoms but no solutions. I was in a hurry and couldn't really study the problem thoroughly. Still I don't quite get it why you found my post so irritating. Anyway thanks for the link to the "assertion error" fix. Will try those tomorrow.

I don't think Craig was irritated. It's our Independence Day here in the U.S., not to mention that it's pretty hot already. No doubt he was just trying to help in a quick and easy way.

I was in a rush and didn't have time to pontificate further and the link I gave you covers Assertion errors well

Yes, I just didn't realize that those "please do a search before new thread" "include your setup details" kind of links were part of his signature and not directed specially for me. So thanks Craig for quick reply. I'll look into this today.

The Sweetwater advice, though fine, is incomplete. There are several things that can need deleting to minimise assertion errors. If you're on Mac you can use the utility that I wrote (at bottom of this post) or if you're on PC search for Trasher. I think you're on Mac but I mention both for completeness for anyone else reading. Good luck.

Cheers,
Pete

I know its not the answer for you but I still would recommend: get the Time Factory 2 for these tasks. Its a stand alone application doing any frame rate conversion in a background, so you can work on on your Pro Tools session. The most important it operates faster and has better quality than X-Form, Pitch 'n Time or anything else existing on the market (I am talking about the film stems or even whole mixes). A bit pricy but worths every penny if you ask me.

Seriously +1 for Time Factory. Perfect for these frame rate conversions and also the pitch change is way better than X-form.
