Default Ghost faders on SC48

Ghost faders on SC48

Is it just me?

Today’s problem was after the system was turned on and the band was starting to rehearse all of the monitors were fine but the sound wasn’t working in the house. The group faders had what looked like a ghosted version of the fader all the way down at the bottom of the travel. In addition to the regular fader. And no matter what I did I couldn’t get it to pass audio thru the groups. I recalled another snapshot and the sound came back to life. I am sure it has to do with how or should I say in what state the SC48 was shut down.

Trying to replicate the problem after the service I recalled an earlier history point (earliest point for today) and it was stuck the same way. I also noticed that I seem to have the same ghost fader after I recalled a different snapshot, but not far from where the real fader is and it passes audio fine. It is only on the history point where the group faders ghost is all the way down where I can’t get the group to pass audio. To get it to work I have to recall another snapshot.

I transferred the file to a USB memory stick and have loaded that into the off line software. But it doesn’t seem to have the same history point in it that the console had.

So what feature or button got pushed this time to foul things up?

Can anybody help me?

So I now I see what the ghost faders are, it is showing the VCA contribution. So since I have the groups on a VCA it looks like that VCA must have been down but I am pretty sure it wasn’t down. The plot sickens. I need to take a trip back to the church and see if I can figure this out.

Yes it sounds like your VCAs were down. That is what the "Ghost Faders" represent.
