Lightbulb "Could not create a new document because assertion in..."

First problem with PT 10:

At the end of PT 10 star-up process I get error: "Could not create a new document because assertion in..."

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...1023at601.jpg/

Trashed db, prefs, everything, repaired hd permitions, restarted Mac, still no go.

Anything else I can do before reinstalling PT10?

Restarted Mac again and PT runs normally.

Maybe I have Gremlins in the Mac

I had this error on my initial startup of PT10. Repaired permission, trashed incompatible plugins, used the "ProTools Pref and Database Helper" app (look it up) restarted several times, no dice. I finally got it to work doing this. Hold down "n" while starting PT (which I guess is standalone mode from what I've read). I pressed "n" before I launched PT and held it down until I got a dialog box asking to create a new session, etc. It started up no problem and asked what playback engine I wanted to use. Can create new sessions on start now and open up older sessions. I haven't had to start PT up using this process again since I did it the 1st time. Haven't gotten to put it through the ringer yet, but will re-post if I ever run into an error like this again. Hope this helps.

What holding down the 'n' key on startup of PT does is allow one to select the audio device to be used. It overrides anything you may have selected before or got messed up.

Thanks for the solution, I have been fighting with this all morning. Holding down the "n" key and changing my settings did the trick.
