Default Soop up the Mix System

Damn

I cant afford the upgrade to HD until I sell yet but I have some money to upgrade my system.

I curently have a G4 Dual 1.25 Mix Referb Core Card, an Adat Bridge 24 and an Octopre with adat card.

I'm seeing that on ebay I may be able to get a mix farm card under $1000 USA

1. What Converters would you sugest I get for extra inputs?

2. What do you all use as a volume controller.

3. Any one with Mix+ is it enought for Pop music production or is mix 3 the way to go.

Rock on
Kitch

I think that Mix + would be enough, but you never want to be out of processing power in a session. As for the extra in's and outs, the 888|24 is the only way to go on a Mix system.

Dont forget that going from a mix+ to a mix3 doesnt get you any more tracks, 64 is max, but it will get you more plugins...

If you are looking for extra ins and outs you should not go for the 888. Using your ADAT bridge you could get an RME ADI8 second hand. They are the best cheaper converter around and the clocking is quite stable.

Mix farms seem to be going for around $1300 so i don't see where you can get them for under $1k.

search for completed items on ebay to see actual selling prices. They are indeed sometimes going below 1000, although the true range is 1000-1200.

been using mix+ with an xtra old dsp-farm for years....

maybe for producingbut it is NOT enough for mixing (and i've got loads of outboard)

just got an hd2 and i'm using the rme for monitoring/mastering.

it is 1500% better than the 888/24!!

I would also suggest looking into Apogee hardware. It's definetly a step up.
