Win7 / PT 8.0.4 LE 002R Problem : Cannot sync Apoge Ensemble via ADAT Optical

Hello guys,
I've spent endless hours searching the DUC and other forums but couldn't get a clear answer as if it's a bug / problem wih 002R Optical or if I'm missing something.

I can't get my 002r / PT 8.0.4 to "see" the standalone Apogee Ensemble inputs.

- I did everything needs be done to setup my Ensemble properly for standalone operation (analog ins --> adat outs in maestro, clock : internal, sample rate : same as session, latest firmware update, etc.)

- Then I connect Apogee ADAT in --> 002r ADAT out
- Apogee ADAT out -> 002r ADAT in

with quality optical cables.
(note : I noticed during the ADAT loop test that the position of the cables / connectors was influencing the quality of the test tone A LOT.. but made sure their position was OK before doing this)

- Hardware setup : Won't let me choose "optical" as Clock Source -- (PT 8.0cs said "selected clock is invalid, reverting", 8.0.4 just doesn't say anything, but no sound and 1394 led blinks)
-> Only option for him is Internal, which is no good for syncing an external ADAT device I suppose.

- Optical Format : I guess I should pick "Optical" but again no difference.

- I/O set to defaults

As a consequence, my Apogee unit isn"t usable.

I guess the method above is the only way to use my apogee's 8 ins / 8 outs, right?

Could I clock the 002r via SPDIF coax, and then use the ADAT optical connections to get my 8 i/o ? (gonna try -again- now..)

Anyone with experience of this kind of setup / problems, please give a shout cause I'm desperate.
