difference between PT24, PT24 Mix and Mix+ ?
I've found someone selling a PT24 system with dual SCSI drives, a 9500, 16bit I/O and PT 4 for £1,600.
I'm sick because I can't buy it right now but I was wondering if a PT24 system would run the latest PT 5 version and whether it's faster than host based LE ? |

Re: difference between PT24, PT24 Mix and Mix+ ?
Thanks!
I'm thinking that a used PT|24 system would be better upgrade for me later in the year than a new G4 because I'd get guaranteed performance out of the DSPs, plus I could still use as much host based power as my G3 gives me now ontop of whatever PT|24 does on it's own. looking in the digirack pdf file it seems that a Mix system can run 168 4-band EQs, compared with the 26 my Beige G3 can do now that's very impressive and as far as I know the PT|24 system is half the speed of a Mix system so should I be looking at about 80 plug-ins from one of those without an additional DSP farm ? I put up a little benchmark session a while ago and seeing as a dual Ghz G4 is barely more than 3 times the speed of my beige G3. The new HD system can run over 250 4-band EQs without even reaching it's maximum so I'd assume a used PT|24 system is the way to go seeing as I'm always on a really tight budget with it just being a hobby. |

Re: difference between PT24, PT24 Mix and Mix+ ?
I have a MIX Cube system with 2 additional DSP cards that were used in my old d24 system. These two extra cards helps me a lot. Plug ins like Autotune, LexiVerb etc takes the same amount as my MIX cards. Besides, the MIX system has 3 different kinds of chips while the d24 have the same type.
My experiences are that you will get more power than you think on the old d24 cards than theory says. -Robert
