Default How do you drag a clip and make it snap precisely to the clip to its left without it

How do you drag a clip and make it snap precisely to the clip to its left without it snapping to grid and without it being all loosey goosey where you have to place it precisely?

Just: snap this clip right up to the clip to the left of it? PT11 -- Thanks!

Try selecting "shuffle" in the upper left hand corner - then drag your clip - it should slide up/snap to the clip you are moving it beside...

Thats a shortcut also - I don't remember which one either - if I was fishing I would
Say - alt left arrow , but I am usually wrong on the first guess

Search for the shortcut PDF from avid's site

Or tab to the end of the first clip and ctrl-click on the second.

Right click region/clip -> Snap to Next, or Snap to Previous

From another thread:

Quote:
Or change the Grid to Clips/Markers, drop a Marker where you want to place the head of the Clips and drag the Clips to the Marker. Note: The Grid has to be on. (Been caught a few times )

From the manual:

"The Clips/Markers option in the Grid Value menu allows events to be placed freely (as in Slip mode), but they will snap to clip locations (start, end, and sync points), markers, and Edit selections when placed near them."

My preferred method:
  • place the cursor right after the "left clip"
  • Option+Tab to place the cursor right at the end of that clip
  • Ctrl+click the clip you want to snap with the Grabber
