All Pro Tools LE7+8/SE/MP7+8 installers to download
So this is another thread particularly for LE users.
As there have been so many LE8 users in the last months who desperately have looked for the installers of LE (in case of the loss of their CDs or whatever) I just wanted to post it here. So hopefully this might help one or the other. Especially for LE8 there one only needs the serial number and he is good to go as any hardware drivers are included in the installer itself. So no extra drivers needed for LE8. Still more...one must not install extra hardware drivers with LE8 as this will mess up one´s system! So this is a list from Sweetwater where you find links to all LE/SE/MP installers. http://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/...-of-pro-tools/ Here are the single links. LE8 http://secure.digidesign.com/service...rticleId=43353 LE7 http://secure.digidesign.com/service...rticleId=43352 SE http://secure.digidesign.com/service...rticleId=43472 MP8 http://secure.digidesign.com/service...rticleId=43372 MP7 http://secure.digidesign.com/service...rticleId=43374 For the latest/best working version of LE8 you will have to have a fully updated Mac OS 10.6.8 and install this before installing Pro Tools. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 Then install the full LE8.0.4 installer, and finally update to 8.0.5 (for free). After that one should be good to go! If one would miss the Mac OS 10.6.x original disc he may get it here for $20.-. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC...6-snow-leopard Some computer optimization stuff has to be done to get PT work well. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...rue&popup=true Additional stuff, fixes updates for plugins and stuff regarding to LE8. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...091?popup=true General List for updates from PT5, PT6, LE7, MP7, LE8, MP8, PT9, PT10, PT11, including all CS updates. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...d/en355241#PT8 Mac OS requirements for all Pro Tools versions from PT6-PT11, all Mac OS Combo Updates etc. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...429?popup=true If someone may feel to add links/stuff it would be just cool! Re: All Pro Tools LE7+8/SE/MP7+8 installers to download
As I have checked this out for another thread again I just thought I could post it
here too, as an additional info for LE8-users. This is particular for the use with Pro Tools LE8, not for prior LE-versions! These are the best fitting, while most modern MacBooks Pro for the use with Pro Tools LE8: 1. MacBook Pro Early 2011, 15", MC721LL/A, i7-Quadcore (Processortype i7-2635QM), 2.0GHz (Turboboost 2,9GHz), Apple Model ID MacBook Pro 8,2 A-1286/2353-1 http://www.everymac.com/systems/appl...olt-specs.html ...this is the basic model of the 2nd generation i7s and can be found at quite reasonable prices on Ebay e.g. There may be more powerful units out there but as it is a modern i7-Quadcore-processor which already uses the Turboboost-function I´m absolutely sure it would deliver enough power to run Pro Tools LE8 conveniently! 2. MacBook Pro Early 2011, 15", MC723LL/A, i7-Quadcore (Processortype i7-2720QM), 2.2GHz (Turboboost 3,3GHz), Apple Model ID MacBook Pro 8,2 A-1286/2353-1 http://www.everymac.com/systems/appl...olt-specs.html ...IMO this could be a quite nice option as it can be found at still affordable prices (of course not as low as the 2.0GHz-models but still ok), it has a definitely powerful processor and it still can be used with Mac OS 10.6.8. The downside on this is that there are not as many offered on Ebay as there are 2.0GHz-models and they will be above 1200.- in the end probably. If it is in good condition it may be worth it anyway. 3. MacBook Pro Early 2011, 15", BTO/CTO, i7-Quadcore (Processortype i7-2820QM), 2.3GHz (Turboboost 3.4GHz), Apple Model ID MacBook Pro 8,2 A-1286/2353-1 http://www.everymac.com/systems/appl...olt-specs.html ...this is the Top-model of the 15"-books of this generation, it´s very powerful and for sure a very good choice if one is not on a very tight budget as these will be around $1500.- or more in the end probably. But if in good condition these are cool, powerful machines indeed. 4. MacBook Pro Early 2011, 17", MC725LL/A, i7-Quadcore (Processortype i7-2720QM), 2.2GHz (Turboboost 3.3GHz), Apple Model ID MacBook Pro 8,3 A-1297/2352-1 http://www.everymac.com/systems/appl...olt-specs.html ...this is the 17"-version of "my favorite" above and if you could find one at an affordable price this of course would be very nice and convenient to work with. 5. MacBook Pro Early 2011, 17", BTO/CTO, i7-Quadcore (Processortype i7-2820QM), 2.3GHz (Turboboost 3.4GHz), Apple Model ID MacBook Pro 8,3 A-1297/2352-1 http://www.everymac.com/systems/appl...olt-specs.html ...the Top-end of the Early 2011-MacBooks Pro, great stuff if one can afford it! These all share to have 1 FW800-port, 1 Thunderbolt-port, 2-3x USB 2-ports 15" models have 2, 17"-models 3). All came originally with 5400rpm OS hard drives. Either with 500 or 750GBs. All use this type of RAM: PC3-10600 DDR3/1333 MHz (also support 1333 MHz PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM) It can be used with max 16GB Ram (2 Slots, 2x 8GBs). And...all of these came originally with Mac OS 10.6.6! So one can erase the Maverick-installation (if one has bought the MacBook Pro with Mavericks installed on it on Ebay e.g.) and make a clean install with a new Mac OS 10.6.8. If the seller can´t deliver you the original disc anymore (ask for it! It should be Mac OS 10.6.6) you will have to buy a replacement disc from Apple. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC...6-snow-leopard As to the OS drive, originally these MacBooks Pro all came with 5400rpm HDs which is definitely too slow to work properly with Pro Tools. One will have to replace it with one 7200rpm, 2.5" HD like this e.g. http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Weste...al/WD5000BPKX/ If one wants to work with PTLE8 a SSD as an OS drive will not be worth the money as one will have to use Mac OS 10.6.8. for the use with LE8 and Trim support for SSDs is enabled since Mac OS 10.7. only. Without Trim support a SSD runs only with 1/4 of it´s advertised speed and is supposed to have a short lifetime anyway. Check out this thread if you want to get more info about it. http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=352188 So for all systems prior to Mac OS 10.7. normal 7200rpm HDs are the best way to go for an OS drive replacement. The further steps for building a LE8-system are: you may install 10.6.x. from the disc, run the Combo Update, http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 do some computer optimization stuff install LE8.0.4, update to LE8.0.5, install plugins updater etc., connect your hardware and you should be good to go! So this all about Pro Tools LE8 and the fitting MacBooks Pro. The very best to everybody, cheers, VRW MacMini i7Quad, 16GB Ram, MBP Mid 2012 2,5GHz i5, 16GB Ram, MacOS 10.9.3, Apogee Quartet+Duet 2, Genelec Active, Yamaha NS10, Pro Tools 11.1.3, Logic 10.0.7, Waves, MCDSP, Duende Native, Softube, HOFA, IK Multimedia etc Last edited by VRW; 06-02-2014 at 03:41 AM. |
