Usually you have to trade the license in but with 11 (I have had upgrades that didn't take the older license when it should have but that may have been the special status of that location)
You also get a bundled license for 10 so you can run that if you have an old session that needs older RTAS/TDM plugs

Thanks, Craig...yeah, I knew about getting the 10 license along with 11, but still, I was wondering specifically whether I'd lose my 9 license in an upgrade to 11...
