Default Sending PT files over Net...

What's the best way to send a large PT file over to someone over the Net ?

Anyone have any experience with this ?

Is it OK to use one of those free FTP sites to upload your stuff to, then Give the password to the receiver to Download ?

Anyone have a reccomendation for a free, reliable FTP site, that lets you have HUGE files ?

Anyone know of a better/different way ?

Of course, we're talking Broadband here...

Thanx

I used to use a program for windows called UFTP (I think). It turns your puter into an FTP server. This seems like it would be the best way to rapidly exchange files over the internet.

I don't know if that specific program is still made, or if there's even a mac version, but there are probably others that will work the same way.

I haven't seen any free online FTP servers large enough to hold a whole PT session. But I haven't been looking either.

Another alternative is the Rocket network. Haven't used that yet, but it might be worth looking into for your situation.

Hope that helps,

I’m interested in this myself. Couldn’t one use AppleTalk and File Sharing?

There are several shareware apps for Mac. Just go to a shareware site and search for FTP. Rumpus and Net Presenz are two that come to mind that I'm aware of, but I haven't used them so I can't comment on reliability or ease of setup.

E-magic Zap is handy for reducing the files size quite a bit, with no loss.

Meshtheflesh, you're right! Zap is fully reliable and makes self-extracting archives..

Does anyone know if FTP’s are faster, slower or the same speed as connecting through AppleTalk/AppleShare?
