Playback Engine setup for MoTU 24 IO and built-in Mac output
i have a mac 1.1 with a motu 24 io with motu pcie card and pro tools 10. i am trying to figure out why i have to change the play back engine settings to pci 424 to record then i have to change the playback engine settings to built in out put to listen to the recorded tracks... i can't just record and then listen to play back. i have tried a number of things but i am guessing that it is in the motu interface settings. please help.. karma is a great thing.

Re: Interface settings?
Hey
Have you tried to set ALL your tabs to Default under Settings -> i/o in PT? Best Regards Christopher

Re: Playback Engine setup for MoTU 24 IO and built-in Mac output
This might be a dumb question, but .... What are you trying to monitor through for playback? Monitor Speakers? Headphones?
If you are setting the playback engne to 'built in' output and you actually hear playback, then it follows that your monitors must be connected to the mac's built in output. Try connecting your monitors to outputs 1 and 2 of the 24i/o, and then setting those as the outputs of your tracks in pro tools. The 24i/o has no headphone outputs, you'd have to connect 2 of its outputs to a headphone amp.

Re: Playback Engine setup for MoTU 24 IO and built-in Mac output
We'll finally got somewhere. Lol. Thanks for everyone's help. I did two fold-
1- reset all settings to default 2- went into motu settings and enabled all outs up to 24 as I am only using that many right now. As the more you select the more latency ( although only milli seconds ) you get. Thanks for all that helped. Have sound now during playback / record and have selected PCI 424 in playback engine. Seems good for now although it has bus 30 as the play back that's enabled? Weird but I have tracks to write so don't wanna mess with it. Thanks again!!! If I figure more out I will definitely post. |
