Default How hot i7 960 ?

I'm a complete computer noob when it comes to things like this. How hot should my processors cores be when in heavy use. What is a typical temp that they shouldn't get to. I'm just investigating do that I can see of my PC is overheating :)

Cheers

my i7 6core when overclocked usually runs 45 degrees...... F

It's been awhile since i have looked but I used to have software that would measure that.....

Standard air cooler.....not water cooled..... Passive CPU cooling.

40-50C is normal. Most PC's are set to shutdown if temps hit over 70C

yeah but not all BIOS's are created the same so you will just have to have a look.

A good case cleaning might help your temps....."the ever falling dust"

Also you might want to invest in a better cooler......at least pull the old one off and take a look-see.

I have a cooler master V8......(big honker for sure)

Spoke to the guy who built my PC and I asked if there was a way to make it cooler maybe add another fan etc. His reply was to buy another motherboard and processor ????

Is this the only way, I hope not ???
