Question Latency Blows!

I am trying to get rid of as much latency possible as I record but my H/W Buffer wont go down past 128....Is this a common thing for win or is there a way to reduce that number even more? Better yet how do you just get rid of latency altogether?

What interface? What computer hardware? We cannot guess.

Doing what in the sessions? tracking with plugins? Running VI concurrently?

You may not get any less without going to HD. Got $5k and change spare? What are you doing exactly so that latency is such an issue? Have you looked at interfaces with hardware cue mixes?

Get an Eleven Rack or Axe FX. If you are running things like Eleven sims or other decent plugins now you may have latentcy as good as it will get.

The Eleven Rack does that processing on outboard DSPs. And offers an awful lot of the $. Selling the Mbox and buying an Eleven Rack (With Pro Tools) may be an option.

If you like the Pod sims/effects you can look at the HD 500 and do thing like use it S/PDIF in to your Mbox interface.

Again you don't explain what you really are trying to do or why latency is a huge issue here. If you are just tracking a single guitar. The Pod HD or Eleven Rack or Axe FX etc. will provide you a low latency way to hear your guitar with amp and effect sims, including while tracking.

Personally I'd look at the Eleven Rack or Axe FX series well before any Pod product.

Hey man thanks for your help. All I am trying to do is record guitar I use midi for the rest. I can hear latency so much even with the lowest settings. It is driving me insane lol I just really want my guitar riffing on time with no latency like an amp would. Again man thanks for taking the time to reply to me I am still just a beginner with recording.
