Default Pt 11

I use LE 8.0.5 with an mBox2 in Windows 7/64. I think I am about to upgrade to version 11. The third party software I use from IK Multimedia and Spectrasonics is RTAS, of course and 11 is not RTAS. Am I hosed with my third party software in version 11 or will reinstallation give an option to install the proper plugin?

Thanks,

Basil

Check to see if the third-party plug-ins you own are available as AAX 64-bit:
Sticky: 3rd party 64-bit AAX Plug-ins for Pro Tools 11

They may or may not require a paid upgrade to a newer version, depending on the company and what version of the plug-ins you own now.

I know Spectrasonics Trillion & Omnishere are AAX 64 as I use them on PT11. Upgrade was free.

What are your current computer specs? Since you are looking at upgrading to 11, this is arguably more important than worrying about plugins at this stage.

Can you post a Sandra report?

All the Ik Multimedia stuff has been upgraded to AAX. It is pretty much free updates, except in the case of Sampletank. I believe you have to upgrade to Sampletank 3 (a paid upgrade) to get AAX compatiblity. But everything else is free.

+1 for posting a Sandra report on your system. Now any system that runs LE SHOULD run 11, but how well can be another story. My rig(see below) runs 10(HD) very well, but falls on its face with 11. Having said that, and not knowing anything about your system, let me leave you some advice that can save your bacon. That is; HAVE A BACKUP PLAN

What I would do is; get another hard drive and clone your current system drive and then install the fresh clone(put the old system drive away for emergency), or install a fresh drive and load everything from scratch(tedious, but very well worth it, especially considering you may want to start with a clean slate). You will need to uninstall LE if you work from a clone

When you buy 11, the iLok(BTW, you NEED an iLok 2) license will allow you to run 10(which still runs RTAS stuff) and when you register 11 in your MyAvid account, you will be able to download 10(10.3.9 is the latest, but I would go with 10.3.8) and run BOTH on your system. I recommend you get 11 installed and your plugins updated, and see how it goes. If it goes great, save a drive image BEFORE you try a co-install with 10
