Replacement ilok

Hello all, hope all is well.
Question, i've lost my ilok. i have taken the steps to recover my licences. I am now at the point where i need to purchase i new ilok. I had the 2nd generation ilok. Does it matter if i purchase the 3rd generation ilok or do i need to get the 2nd generation? Thanks for all your help guys.

No, it doesn't matter. iLok3 is just as good as iLok2, only smaller.

...and even easier to loose. You should attach a big ass lanyard to it and then staple that to the side of your computer.

It seems you are totally wrong. I cant register my licenses to ilok 3. Ilok manager tells me it has to be the 2nd generation

Well I don't have one, but this is what ilok.com site says:

Smaller, faster, and with even greater capacity, the new iLok is here! The Third Generation iLok is fully compatible with software created for the second generation iLok

Which licenses?

I have both iLoks2 and an iLok3 for my job and the licenses have registered to either without issue. I have not seen any licenses that have specifically required an iLok 3. Many will only let you authorize to an iLok 2 or above, as PACE broke backward compatibility with the first gen iLoks. But the iLok 2 and iLok 3 even have the same icon in iLok manager.

my apologies for the very late response and for jumping to conclusions. It seems you have to update your ilok manager and everything works fine. Thanks for all the help guys i appreciate and respect you all
