Working with 9 and 10
Hello, My name is Leo, and this is my first post here on the forum :) Thanks for having me!
Okay, so here's the issue. The college that I'm attending uses Pro Tools 9. Now, I would like to work on my schoolwork at home, but 9 does not work with the Lion OSX. Here's my questions. Will 9 projects open up in Pro Tools 10 without any issues? Will there be any issues at all? Here's what I would do. I would save the projects at school on a portable Hard drive. Then, plug the hard drive into my home setup, and open the projects directly, on my computer. What is my best bet here? What are my options? Thanks for looking, and I look forward to talking with all of you! |

Re: Working with 9 and 10
Hi Leo,
I'd go for 9.0.6 which does work will Lion. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...011?popup=true Jumping back and forth between 9 and 10 may get a bit icky... http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...093?popup=true |

Re: Working with 9 and 10
Thanks for the reply! So, How would I go about getting the update? Could I just purchase the boxed version of Pro tools 9, and download the update after I have installed 9? I notice an ilok is required, which I do have. So, would I just install pro tools 9 with ilok authorization, and download the update afterwards?

Re: Working with 9 and 10
Pretty much Leo, you got it, 9.0.5 goes on first (from download), then you can put the 9.0.6 update on, then you can do your iLok authorisations.
Read the previous link carefully: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...011?popup=true Check with your college or local resellers about educational pricing as well. Also make sure your Mac is optimised for Pro Tools, no silly desktop pics of your cat, no wobbly bluetooth wotsits etc see http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...791?popup=true If you purchased PT10, the ilok auth will also work with PT9, so you're ok for both. oh, and make sure you register all your kit with Avid. |

Re: Working with 9 and 10
Thanks man. I am, currently looking for an Mbox 3 Pro Tools 9 bundle, at an educational price, just can't find one..
Best deal I found so far: http://www.amazon.com/Pro-Tools-Mbox...N%3DB004PGMDOG |

Re: Working with 9 and 10
I wonder if there is educational pricing for an mbox/pro tools 9 combo. This would be ideal.

So, if they are running Pro Tools 9 at my college, my 9.0.6 version of 9 should be the exact same, as far as plugins, and content, correct? |

Re: Working with 9 and 10
Not sure exactly what update they are running, but even if they are running a different version of 9, everything should be fairly similar. I think they are running snow leopard though, so they could be running any version, i'm assuming,
