Command|8 and Ableton Live?

I got it to work.

Make sure that you've followed the directions in the Command|8 reference, so your Command|8 is "Dumping from MIDI to Preset..."

Then make sure that the output for the MIDI track on which you have the SysEx file loaded in ProTools is set to Command 8, Port 1, Channel 1. Play the SysEx MIDI region, and it should load. It worked that way for me.

For what it's worth, Reason 3.0 and Logic 7.1 will not send updates to the C|8 regarding fader/pan location, so there's no force feedback. They have the capability but it's not user-programmable the way Live is. Therefor, we'll have to wait for Digi, or the respective developers, to do something.

hmmm, still not getting live talking to C8.
heres where im at:

1. Ok so the command 8 has the sysex file loaded
2. Lives prefs midi i/o are both set to command 8 port 1

still no response from Live.

I tried opening the live file into Live and it wouldnt recognize it:

When I downloaded the Live template, I ended up with a file that Live wouldn't open. I could email it to you.

I dug a little deeper - <snip> It was pretty easy to do, but it was a bit tedious to name all the controls on the C|8. But, I present the SysEx file so you don't need to go through the hassle!

Next I am going to tackle Reason 3.0 (don't know if I can get ReMote to see the C|8) and then the motherlode... Logic Pro 7.1!!

Can anyone hook me up w/ the Live templates for the C8? I've got one coming to me in the mail... and would like to be able to use it with Live to see how well it works! Thanks! Jason

Is there anyone out there that can post these files, I am going out of my puny mind searching for a way to use my command 8 in live.. Now that I am used to hands on mixing, there's no going back.
