Default A (great) idea for plugins

Ok, if I use a plug in (especially for special effects) just for 2 bars in a song, could I have a way to automatically activate and deactivate it (freeing dsp while not using it) ? Don't you think it's a great idea ??? Ok, thanks

Not bad idea - problem is if the reactivation caused DSP shuffling when the system was getting max'ed out - don't reckon that'd be very good for playback!

For two bars I just bounce to disc. Done. Free up DSP. Save the settings and if at mixdown you don't like it, suspend something else temporarily, and re-bounce. Slightly convoluted, but again, for two bars? For Digi to write that into code.... don’t know.

This is one think I really like about the PT 5.1 track deactivation feature. When you BTD or record to free up dsp, you can just deactivate and hide the original track, thus keeping all the original settings should you need them again. This used to be a major hastle.

What would be nice though, is if we could bounce the output of just 1 channel (without having to route it). This would very much speed up the 'bouncing 1 track' process that a lot of us are doing on special FX.

yes, TDM plug-ins with BTD button. kind of a merge with audio suite. that would be convenient.

If the plugin in question has an AudioSuite counterpart, why not use that?

Personally, I'd like this to happen. I find many times (especially in my work-sfx editing) that I want to effect something - without bouncing - so maybe I can tweak later, and it's when I don't have an Audiosuite alternative.

It's a drag to set up a Reverb One for a 6 second sfx on a track in a 42 min show or whatever. At this point I usually bounce and hope, or set up an aux to share the plug with other tracks and automate the heck out of it. --not sooo bad, but sometimes is a lot of extra work.

I agree with Corey - just process the file using Audiosuite - the new file goes in the playlist - job done.

The only problem is if you want to use automation......
