DO NOT re-sync your iloks. No matter what. Take your DAW off line.

As a precautionary measure, I signed on to ilok via the web, made screen shots of all my licenses and changed my password.

Now, I would have to update my password in the 'ilok asset' app before syncing....so I won't accidentally do it. AND they can't automatically do it.

That fu**ing company has to GO.

With such an egregious thing going on is there some reason that this is only being talked about on the DUC?? No mention on GS?? Very strange....

Two important things guys :

1. So long as you don't sync your iLok, you wont loose anything (if needs be, buy a new iLok, and only ever sync that to add new plug-in purchases).

2. Heartbleed.

I checked ilok.com when Heartbleed was first discovered, and it was vulnerable, but has just been made secure (there has been no word from PACE on this issue).

It's entirely possible that the reason you "must not contact iLok support, as they can't help you" is because none of this communication is actually coming from PACE / iLok (and they are unaware of it).

Heartbleed makes it possible for nefarious 3rd parties to not only harvest all your passwords and user ID's etc, but to also create a convincing facade of being the original host website - so this could be either a grand hoax, or an actual hijack of assets.

PACE need to be notified, as does the wider community, and everyone now needs to change their ilok.com passwords.

FYI avid.com always was secure, as it doesn't use OpenSSL. The DUC on the other hand, was vulnerable, but has since been secured.

This sounds like someone figured out how to do the very thing that the iLok system was supposed to prevent.

I think we need a statement from Avid on what is going on here, since they chose the iLok system for their software authorization.

Yeah, I can see it now :

"Our new subscription model is designed to prevent exactly this sort of situation. Switch to subscription authorisation now".

IMO Avid has little to do with the issue.

I would suggest we who have gotten some license taken away contact Pace directly.

Here's the support email

One would've figured that a company responsible for copy protection worldwide on the most popular platform would've had a thorough beta cycle and beta team prior to completely overhauling and changing their system. Unfortunately, I highly doubt this will be the last fiasco from them. Thanks for the heads up Tom!

Wow, this is unbelievable that it could even happen, especially after their initial rollout and all those problems. I haven't received any emails or lost licenses but I went and made some changes just to be on the safe side. I will not be syncing any iLoks or buying new plugs that require it until it's sorted out.

Thank for the warnings guys, much appreciated.
