Default PROBLEM SCENARIO

OK...I Have a Mbox (original) and I'm having the hardest time trying to install my version of ProTools onto my computer. I couldn't get my version (5.33) to work on my computer.

My friend installed ProTools 6.4 onto my computer. Everything looked right, but then when I tried to open the ProTools Icon, it crashed my computer (or rather made it restart) then after the reboot it said "a serious error has just occurred". And it keeps doing that. grr.

I thought his 6.4 might be compatible, but it's being weird too. Is there something wrong with the version my friend put on my computer? It shouldn't be restarting my computer!!!

If anyone can help, that would be great and I thank you in advance. Email me or just post back. [email protected]

Computer Specs:
Gateway Desktop PC
Windows XP Home Ed. Service Pack 2
945G Express Chipset
Pentium 4, 3.00Ghz w/Hyperthreading (which I disabled)
2-HDD 250GB Total
512MB RAM
DVD ROM & DVD-RW DRIVE

The first version of Pro Tools to work with SP2 is 6.4cs9.

Here is what you need to do:
  1. Download and install the 6.4cs6 plugin update
  2. Download and install the 6.4cs9 program update
  3. Download and install the Documentation
  4. Download and install the latest PACE interlok drivers

Make sure you trash your prefs and databases after updating (How To is mentioned in the General Troubleshooting thread).

Also, using "your friend's" copy of Pro Tools is illegal. You really should purchase your own upgrade. I would definitely recommend version 7.

I have Version 5.33 (the Cds and everything) but it won't work on my computer for some reaon, so he's letting me try his. He broke his Mbox and doesn't have enough money to fix it...so he said he would give me his version of ProTools to see if it works.
I just want the darn thing to work!

Thank you.

PT LE 5.33 probably won't work because you have Service Pack 2, which is already stated by spkguitar that runs 6.4cs9 and above. Service Pack 1 would or should work with Pro Tools LE 5.33.
