Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro issues
I am having problems with 10.7.3 and intensity Pro card using PTHD native V 10.1.2.
Its basically performing very sluggishly with video output particularly when navigating. BMD Drivers 9.6 performed very badly and on their advice reverted to 9.1. This performs a lot better however on both driver versions my video sync offset is 25 frames which seems a hell of a lot to me... I have deduced that performance varies depending on what video codec is used. It does not seem to like mp4s - quicktime flavours work better but its still not right. Im generally using low resolution video as its only for reference. Any other BMD/Protools users got any advice? Best codec info for this card? |

Re: Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro issues
More info on your system?
I used the intensity in my MacPro for quite some time. Now I'm running it in a G5 with a video satellite LE system, and I never had problems with any codec I was working with (h264, photo-JPEG, ProRes (Proxy), ProRes). Video offset varies between 8 and 12 quarter frames. 25 frames would be 100 quarter frames. This is insane and can't be right.

Re: Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro issues
Try converting the video to the Photo JPEG codec with no sound. Performance should increase by a lot.
I don't think this will affect your video performance, but PT 10.2 is the bomb. There's no reason that I know of not to upgrade... |

Re: Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro issues
thanks for your comments....
my system is Mac Pro 2.1 - 8 core intel xeon 12 gig Ram 10.7.3 PTHD Native card - ATI Radeon HD5770 graphics card - Firewire card and BMD Intensity Pro card. PTHD 10.1.2 Avid Media Composer 6. I was running a Matrox MX02 for Avid Media Composer 6 with no issues but changed it for BMD card as its Protools compatible. Performance is poor. Any help would be appreciated. Should I run 10.2 ? would it make a difference to this issue? |

Re: Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro issues
You should definitely run 10.2, for 200+ reasons in the changelog.
The Intensity Pro has been working fine since PT9 for me, so I don't think 10.2 will do any particularly good in this case.

Re: Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro issues
I notice you are running a similar system to me - or used to - what version of the bmd drivers are you running?

Re: Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro issues
The Mac Pro 2,1 ain't no speed demon anymore. It should get the job done, but I don't think it will feel super snappy by 2012 standards.

I won't be in the studio for another week to look it up, sorry.
