Default Track counts

I just installed my MBox and PTLE6.4 onto my laptop. Ran the davec test and it came out with a count of 22, which I think is well low considering my laptop spec and settings. I am using:
P4 2.6GHz 865PE MOBO
1GB RAM
ATI 9600 Mobility 128MB
External LACIE 160GB FW drive

I have minimal services setup - about 11 running.
Visuals optimised for performance
Page file set to 1536 (1.5 times my RAM) on a seperate Page File partition.
Processor scheduling set to Background services
H-T turned off.
Most of the tweaks as laid out on tweakhound, music-xp and blkviper websites.
Network adapters, floppy disks, modem, other sound card all disabled.
Max CPU usage set to 85%. HW Buffer setp to 1024 samples, playback buffer set to level 2.

My computer seems quite slow to start-up as well, with the userinit and other initial services taking ages to turn themselves off. Also when I move the mouse in protools the CPU meter jumps around quite disturbingly.

Does anyone have any ideas why my system is not performing too well? I really don't want to reinstall windows and start again cos it takes me nearly a day to edit the services, and do all the performacne tweaks and reinstall all my music software??

Please help!!!

Set your waveforms to blocks in your edit window and run your graphics at 16bit.
Remove the mouse and use the touchpad or a dedicated mouse port (not usb)
Turn off unused I/O.

My mouse is PS2 so no problem there.
What do you mean turn off unused I/O??
Is this track count normal for such a system or am I missing something??
