Default Re-Amping: Dry Volume Setting?

Eleven Rack is selected in the Playback Engine, so Re-Amping is via virtual audio cable (USB) back to the Eleven Rack. In Pro Tools, the dry track's output assignment is ReAmp and the wet track's input assignment is Eleven Rig. Standard setup. What I've noticed is the volume fader for the dry track channel effects the input signal of the Re-Amping channel back to Eleven Rack. Now, I'm using my ears and some rigs can take this signal being over driven while others can not but what I'm really interested in knowing is is there a right setting for the dry volume fader channel? Unity Gain 0dB?

Thats what I use, Unity. When using another Software sim, I usually have to up it a few db to hit what the specific program considers optimum input levels.

Hello Benoni

Here's the point, re-amping can be viewed as auditioning and this auditioning needs to sit at rough mix levels (dry and wet), however a low dry signal lowers the re-amping output signal. Solutions?

The clean guitar signal you get on input, is "calibrated" to give the "true" guitar signal to your amp modelers when re-amping (keep fader at 0dB).
You can of corse alter the signal (boost), but then you are boosting the input of the amp just like with a boost pedal.
This will definitively change the sound of the amps in the 11R, and may or may not suit the sound you are after.

Best advice is to tweak the knobs, take care of the level (rig output at about -12 dB) for easier processing/mixing (from an engineers standpoint). Then record away, both the clean signal as is and/or the amp of your choice.

Hello bredo

Is that why there is no Guitar Input Gain?

For the Eleven Rack you mean? Yes, the True-Z input is set to the optimum input for guitar/bass.

To read up on True Z, look here:
