Re: Another Faulty 003 Console Unit?! No It Can't Be...
A few details that may help; never(never ever) disconnect or connect the firewire cable with the 003 and/or computer powered ON as that can fry the firewire chip in the 003, or the computer, or both(learned the hard way here). Next, which driver you use(assuming a compatible firewire controller in the PC) will make or break the functionality. Avid recommends using the Legacy driver, but that doesn't work for me(it makes all the 003 buttons send midi notes to my VI plugins). There should be 3 drivers residing on your system, so go to Device Manager and right-click on the firewire controller and select update Driver, then choose from a list of drivers. Of the 3 that you should find, try all, but the one that works here is the one called "TI Compliant....." If none of this helps, link or post a Sandra report as described in this link from the top part of this(and every DUC page):

Re: Another Faulty 003 Console Unit?! No It Can't Be...
Wow great news and this is something Ive tried before from the avid database but it did not work on my system, yet I just went into the device manager like you stated above and looked for the driver updates and even though I stayed with the same Legacy driver I decided to open up Pro Tools and my firmware updated from 7 to 8.
I do not remember the exact digits on the update but I know the update was definitely needed because now my units control surface functions are working, it's honestly been a year since I used any functions on the unit believe it or not, I just tried recording and it also worked but It's done this before for some reason it likes to mess with me when I actually WANT to work lol but this is definitely progress |

Re: Another Faulty 003 Console Unit?! No It Can't Be...
I recently updated my 003 to 9.0.6 when I started to notice that my faders do not behave properly (return to unity as if on Automation Read). How did you update the Firmware on the 003?
