Default Hyperthreading in 2020?

What is the consensus on hyperthreading these days?

Should I sill turn it off?

Running windows 10 on an i9 9900k..

Hi at least for me runs well on windows 10 the HT. No issue with it here.

Best to try it on and off with a big session and see. In the past, there have been different results on very similar systems, so testing is still the best way

Did a bunch of tests earlier year. For me, 8700K : Win 10 : PT 2020.5 : MOTU 1248, hyperthreading always on is better. EXCEPT, when I need low buffer sizes (24/96 with 64 sample buffer) then I need to use the Affinity Switch to release one half of one of the cores for the OS - this is essentially HT off for one core.

On my AMD Ryzen 2700X Win 10 system I get better performance with hyperthreading turned off, less CPU spikes etc. this only counts for pro tools though, other programs might benefit from hyperthreading.
