Are you putting that drive in some kind of case? The case will matter more than the drive(but I recommend the WD Caviar BLACK over the BLUE). The case must have an Oxford chipset for firewire, but any eSATA connection should work just fine. Be forewarned that the eSATA cable connections can be flimsy. If you find locking cables, use them. I had a standard eSATA cable on my external DVD burner and needed to reseat the connections weekly.

Default Re: external drive for playback??

yes i have here Icy box External 3.5" HDD enclosure with usb2,firewire 1394a,eSata.
power adapter (100-240V). i think i should be able to use that?

i can only fit 2 internal drives in my pc and i was having some DAEerrors all the time and for a whole year i overlooked the obvious witch was my os drive being partioned and the audio playback was on the other partion of the os, hehe talking about not paying attention hehe so many hours and months of frustration.
also know couple of people who gave up but not once did i thought about changing to another daw, they might be slow with the fixes and stuff but i have absolute faith in digi.

ill go for the caviar black and check those eSatacables with the lock

Thanx allot
