"Join" automation button not working

Is anyone able to use the "join" button in the automation section of their D-Command? Mine only works from the software page, not the physical button.

Using OS 7.2cs4 on a G5 Quad processor with expansion chassis.

just to make sure it's not the led that's broken :


try following little scenario :

1. put a track in LATCH mode. / view in the edit window to volume ...
2. start playback and do some fader moves for like 15 seconds or so ....
3. then press rewind and let the track play

checkpoint : do you see the join button illuminated at this point ?

if not ... PRESS it anyhow and check wether :

- from the point on you pressed the join button the volume line turned red (indicating you're actively writing automation)
- if the automation led on the channelstrip on the controller is blinking (again indicating you're writing automation)


What say you ?


if all that fails : go to the utility pages :

- press the utility button and then : Test / LED / Switch

Now when you press the JOIN button ... what do the softkey section leds indicate ?

They should indicate the position of the join button (row / number etc ... )

What say you ?

These steps should tell you wether there's something wrong with the hardware ... 99% sure that is.
