Default What to use to record sound of nature?

Of course I would use notebook with USB sound card.

Any idea what kind of mic (best possible) I should use?

Sound should be recorded in high quality stereo, preferably 44.1khz/24 bit. The biggest problem would be a mic and preamp because I can't use the power in the bush. Only batteries.

Of course using the power generator is some kind of option but the noise he does create is far too loud.

Any ideas or hints, or... links?

TIA

Sound Devices 442 mixer with two MKH 416 in ORTF pattern.
The 416s IMHO would be a good choice because of the off axis rejection and focus. Even in the woods there is a direction where there is noise you want to avoid.
