Default Firmware update/problem for 002 Rack

I just bought a new 002 rack and the first thing I did was upgrade to 6.4
Now when I open Protools I get the following message:
"The Digi 002 Rack has system firmware v1.08r which does not match the
current system firmware version v1.20r. Would you like to download the
current version? Please note, on some computers this may take as long
as 10 minutes."

This is all well and good but for a week now I haven't been able to "connect"
even though my internet connection is perfectly fine
(as exemplified in me posting this message)

I get: "The firware download to Digi 002 was unsuccessful. Please check
connections and try again."

I am forced to deduce that Digidesign just doesn't have this file to be
downloaded. I have searched the website for another link but to no avail.

I know I'm missing something and some help would be
very much appreciated.

Thanks !!!

I believe the firmware is not downloaded from the internet but from the computer to the unit. It's built into the version of the PT software? (Please - correct me if I'm wrong!)

Try unplugging and replugging your firewire cables, restarting the unit and try it again.

Hey,

I just went through this when I used a loaner for a few days while my 002 rack unit was being serviced. Clutch's response is right on the money. It's between the software and the hardware, doesn't involve the internet. I had no problem with it. Just clicked "okay" and waited about ten minutes until it was done...

Take care,

The firewire connection is considered a network connection by the system. You might need to make sure you are using the same FW port as when you loaded the software. Try reinstalling your drivers and just follow through with the firmaware upgrade. Eventually your system will recognize all the FW ports as valid. Also be sure not to let your system load the Digi drivers. These must come from the Digi Setup program.
