2018.7 Midi editor defaults
Hello there everybody! Long time PT user, first time posting on the DUC. I searched for this but couldn't unearth anything, so I'd like to bring it up in hopes the it could help other people who have encountered this issue.
In PT 2018.7, every time I load a session, the pencil tool and nudge value (in the midi editor window only) revert to a default setting instead of retaining their previously selected settings. The main edit window pencil tool and nudge value remains in the same state as when I closed the session, which is also how the midi editor used to behave until the .7 update. Specifically, I almost always have my pencil tool set to line, and my nudge value set to 10ms. I do a lot of midi editing, so it is annoying to open a session, highlight some notes in the midi editor, hit the < or > key, and watch the notes jump somewhere I wasn't expecting (it reverts to 1 bar on nudge, and the pencil tool reverts to freehand). As you will see in the screenshot, my main edit window nudge value is still at 10ms from the last time I opened the session, but my midi editor nudge is at 1 bar. Obviously, it isn't a huge deal to change the pencil tool to line and the nudge to 10ms, but PT hasn't behaved like this before and it disrupts my workflow just enough to be irksome. Do your 2018.7 midi editor windows behave similarly, and do you have any ideas how to change it? Thanks in advance! |

That's annoying, for sure. Have you done a trouble ticket with Avid?

Re: 2018.7 Midi editor defaults
Checked this morning. It happens on 12.8.3 as well. I noticed in the past that it happened on the grid setting in the midi editor, even on 10 and 11. Didn't realize that other midi editor setting were also affected. I don't know if this could be a bug. Sure, it's not comfortable. When working on a track that is 8Tth quantized, then on a 16th we have to re-set the midi editor grid because this setting won't be saved in the session. Annoying

Re: 2018.7 Midi editor defaults
It's nice to know I'm not the only one encountering this! I haven't submitted a ticket. Because it's a relatively small thing, it's not worth it to me to purchase a support ticket or plan, so I'll just ride it out and hope that they fix it in the next update.
