It's like this. Most of these programs you can download a demo. Try them all and pick. Only you can hear and understand what type of work flow you will have.

Regarding complete drum plugs (not samplers/samples) I have/use:

Superior Drummer 2: love the ability to control bleed on every mic, giving you complete isolation, or bleed as if actually mic'd/recorded. Obviously you can then bounce/record it out as the various mics and mix it like you normally would a recorded kit.

Strike: my hands-down favorite as a writing tool, if you want to be able to start from some patterns. It gives you the ability to customize/personallize them easily and intuitively. Well thought out and implemented.

Battery 3: I'm new to this one, and I like it so far, but I can tell already, for me, it wont replace SD or Strike, but it will be a very nice addition to those.

There are a lot of great options out there, take a little time to find the one that make the most sense and sounds the best to you.
