Default Upgrade to Snow Leopard?

I'm currently running PT 8.0.5 on Leopard 10.5.8 and the system has been rock solid.

Would there be any reason to, or not to, upgrade the OSX to 10.6.8 ?

I've considered PT 10 but, due to the cost, will have to stay on PT 8 for now.

Thanks

i have HD2 8 rock solid too, will not upgrade and save for Reason 6 and some good hardware, clients don't give a [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep] if we use pro tools or logic or reaper, they just want to spend less money.

In theory, shouldn't upgrading to Snow Leopard (and keeping PT 8.0.5) be transparent ?

In other words, would Snow Leopard itself cause any stability issues ?

There's nothing inherently wrong with Snow Leopard... but if your system is rock solid, and you have no compatibility issues, then there's no reason to upgrade.

I only upgraded from Leopard because PT9 required Snow Leopard. If I stayed on PT8, I would have stayed on 10.5.

You can also update to 8.1.1 on 10.5. I did , rock solid. You will get a alert you are about to install on unsupported OS version but 8.1.1 is needed for the new HD I/O interfaces.

The transition to Snow Leopard may require some plugin updates also FYI.

Thanks for the guidance.

Guess I'll stay put for a while and start saving up for the next expensive upgrade!
