Default imported midi file not selecting proper midi chann

When I import a midi file into a session is not selecting my Korg 03R/W which I use for playback. Consequently I have to manually select and assign each midi channel. It used to do this automatically in 5.1 but I can't figure out how to make it work with my current set-up 6.2.2 and 002r. Thanks for any suggestions.
