Default PT7.3 Bounce to quick time Out of Sync !!! Ugh !

Help !! ... anyone tried bouncing to quicktime movie in PT 7.3 I'm trying to bounce down a scene to send out for approval, and the audio drifts severely out of sync with the picture....I've tried both the session native rate 48k and tried 44.1... Also tried playin back on my other computer to make sure quick time wasn't being pulled to the wrong sample rate by protools being open in the background...

I'm PTDH 7.3 on a quad. 4 gig ECC Ram....

Anyone successfully bouncing movies in 7.3 at either sample rate ?

Thanks Tom...

Hmm... Ok tried several times.... 3rd one seems to be fine.... I dunno why the first 2 were out so bad... Maybe setting and resetting the sample rate in the OSX Audio control panel had something to do with it....
So. Seems to work now...

Thanks Tom....

Are you in a pulled down (or up for that matter) session by any chance?

There's an existing bug from several versions back where if you're in a pulled down session you have to set it to 47952 (or your respective rate) in the bounce to QT window or your audio will not be in sync.

I don't have 7.3 yet, but this has been the case for some time.

It'd be my first guess.

Good luck.

here is the trick!

if the video track ends before the end of the bounce time selection, pro tools will essentialy "stretch" the video to match the end point of the selection.

this will result in the video going out of sync badly.

when bouncing to a quicktime file select the region of time that matches the end point of of your video and everything will be fine.
if the audio carries on longer than the video, instead of adding blank frames digi will stretch the video to match selection end.

after about a dozen bounces and many questions asked to many video experts we found this by trial and error.

a big round of applause for Mr. Brandon Prodger for figuring this bug out

give it a try im sure you will find this to work:)

I can make this happen on every bounce. It is a major PITA when I want to include music/reverb ring off after the picture is over. Any official word from Digi?

Whoa! Scary if true... this is definitely not what users asked for, Digi! Now I know why I haven't installed 7.3 yet...

I am pretty sure that the problem isn't contained in 7.3. As far as I recall, soundhacker has 7.2 and it was doing the same on his system. My guess is it started with the introduction of multiple video clips/tracks. Just to be certain, somebody who runs 7.0 or less should test this theory with a single video file.

We have successfully reproduced this bug and we are currently working on a fix. More info as it becomes available.
