Re: I love Pro Tools!
It's just great and so easy to use. I was watching a video, I forget the guys name, but someone posted up his video series in this section a few days ago, something about 3 hours of HD tutorials for beginners or something, 8 or 9 parts or so. Anyway, I was watching his presentation on "why I use Pro Tools" and he pointed out something that most people, at least I never did, think about when they use it. And that's that the interface is mad simple and how there is only two main windows. And it's true. All the tools are neatly put at the top leaving a bunch a space too work. I mean, I look at programs like Abelton, which some say is much better than Pro Tools, and there is shyt everywhere on the screen. When I first started using Pro Tools almost two years ago, I didn't feel lost. Just looking at Abelton clips on youtube, it seems too busy. But that could just be perception of it from the outside.
Also, some of you remember me helping out my friend with his computer and getting Pro Tools working on it for him a few weeks ago (the one with the old shytty P4 with messed up RAM). He had been into computer-based recording years ahead of me (Pro Tools is my first cpu based DAW). He's been running Cubase and Sonar. When I first got it, I remember him saying that Pro Tools is just alright, but there are other programs out there that are much better and do more. I brushed it off like whatever. So after hearing the music I was making with Pro Tools and how my mixes were sounding, he was like "I need that sound". Lol! So he wanted me to help him get a PT setup. So we got him the Mbox Pro and I got him up and running for him. Now after getting his feet wet with it, he tells me "yo, why didn't you tell me to get this shyt a long time ago?". I love it! He's happy. I've been training him and he's now loving it. I can't imagine switching to another program at all, at least anytime soon. Even though I know he could physical get the same sound in cubase or sonar that he can in Pro Tools, I think the experience with the program and enjoyment of using it may help his stuff sound better than it did with the other software.
