Oh please tell me that's not it!!!!

That thing is hideous.
Looks like a dinosaur egg with a monitor sticking out of it!

What are they thinking?

I feel like I should rub it for good luck!!!???

Hey, maybe the monitor is detachable, then we could go outside and play a little "pass the iMac"!!!

Steve, Steve, Steve.....

You are slippin man....

Too late. They took it down. Here's some info from http://www.macintouch.com/

Last evening, the Canadian edition of Time Magazine prematurely posted the web version of this week's stories, including the cover feature about Apple's new iMac. An accompanying photo showed Steve Jobs and Jonathan Ive, chief of Apple's ID lab, with the new iMac on the cover. The company later changed the site to redirect all queries to the US site.
**The feature story, titled "Apple's New Core," revealed some details about the first new product to be confirmed for announcement at this morning's keynote:

* Quittner called it "dazzling, never-seen-anything-like-it"
* "built around a flat-panel display [that] floats in the air, attached to a jointed, chrome-pipe neck [...] rimmed by a [...] translucent plastic frame"
* "The chrome neck is articulated and bends while maintaining the angle of the screen"
* "the computer [is] an improbably small hemisphere at 26.4 cm in diameter-somewhat bigger than a halved cantaloupe"
* G4 Processor
* "Pixar creative chief John Lasseter has also made the first new iMac ad."
* Prices start at $1,299 [We're trying to determine if this is Canadian or US dollars -Ed.]
* Top-end $1,800 version includes DVD SuperDrive.

Quittner can call it "Dazzling" but I've got another word for it.... FUGLY!

If Jonathan Ive designed it, he should be sacked.

The funny thing is every, and I mean EVERY design for the LCD iMac I saw off of the "rumor" sites kicked the ever-living **** out of this design from Apple.

Hell, I'd be happy if they'd re-introduce the Cube. That design was great, it was just a little premature since it was based around Firewire / USB and we had no interfaces then.....but NOOOO....now we get a computer inspired by the shape of a bicycle helmet crossed with a desk lamp (the "jointed, chrome-pipe neck").

Maybe Jobs moved his keynote up one day in SF to avoid all of the WTF???? questions....and so he could quietly escape without being harmed.

I think its great. It looks like an LCD with an over sized stand. What other shape could they have used? A Cube? That sold rather poorly and I don't think they would want to dig up negative memory's

I think it's pretty cool too. It's a G4 800MHz iMac with a DVD-Superdrive for $1799. Very interesting how they accomplished this sans the overheating problem in such a compact unit.

It'll be interesting to see how well it works for digital audio since it has no L3 cache.

Kamurah, you're cracking me up! I can't stop laughing. That thing looks like a POS. However, what bothers me more is no new towers.

I agree...
No G5's....
No G4 speed increase....
No new Tower.....

Does that iEgg have an internal fan? I can't find any info on the website.

It could be useful if it doesn't have an internal fan.

Cheers
