Default Why New Space Licenses?

Avid, can you give an explanation why you decided to make Space require a new license for 12.7+ versions of the software?

They wanted to get rid of the "TL Labs" name, so they needed to create a new iLok license that says "Avid". No other reason.

There's probably some PACE account issue. They also issued all new licenses after they bought Bomb Factory.

As I said, the publisher name of old licenses cannot be changed to "Avid" so they needed to issue new ones to every customer. The old license names are probably renamed after the change.

My existing Space license had publisher "Avid TLL Products". Are you sure you can't change the publisher name on a license? I swear my Lexicon PCM Reverb Native publisher name wasn't listed as "Harman" whenever i first bought it.

I totally was unaware that my Space 12.1 was being authorized by my subscription and not my Space license.

I just tell you what I've been told. I have no direct contact to PACE

I've seen that happen too which is why I think it's a PACE developer account issue and not just a name.

What's in a name anyway

Something has to do with PACE but all I know is name change caused this hassle. No legit customer should be affected.

The TL Space license was originally published by Trillium Lane Labs. While Avid was able to change the existing Pace license publisher name from Trillium Lane Labs to Avid TLL Products, they are not able to change the publisher to just Avid since Avid is already a different publisher.

To make Space authorizable with both the support plan license and a standalone Space license, both licenses have to be from the same publisher. Space update 12.1 was only authorized by the support plan license. Now, 12.1 and beyond are authorizable with either the support plan license or the newly issued Avid Space license.
