Session getting stuck while opening

I'm trying to open a session I haven't worked on in a couple of months. It won't open and seems to bei getting stuck on a particular track. the Open dialogue says Restoring tracks... Activating inserts: Audio 3. Is there any way to open a session without activating inserts? Or any other way around this issue? I don't mind reconstructing the session if I have to but I need to get it open because I have a lot of midi instruments in there.

It depends; which version of PT are you using?

If PT8, (from page 118 in the ref guide):

To open a Pro Tools session with all plug-ins set to inactive:

1. In Pro Tools, choose File > Open Session.
2. In the Open Session dialog, locate and select
3. the session you want.
4. Shift-click Open.
