Default Very slow track size change!

Hi Guys,

I’m having a track resizing issue in Pro Tools HD 11. Anytime I try to change the size of a track in a session with a large number of tracks, PT takes a long time to resize that track. This happens regardless of whether I use keyboard shortcuts or my mouse.

I have included a link to a 2MB video I have recorded demonstrating the issue:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...e%20change.mov

Audio plays back normally which is great but you can see the display freezes. I can speed this up by reducing the number of inserts, sends showing, or hiding the instrument or I/O pane… though I find this to be a pretty annoying work around.

I have also noticed Pro Tools QuickTime server (Not Responding) in Activity Monitor. Even when I have the video engine turned off. This may or may not be related.

Any ideas?

In vanilla PT11 I get some hesitation in the resizing of tracks but the playhead keeps going without the stuttering I see in your video. And as you say playback itself is okay. I tried it on a session that currently has 30 tracks, mostly audio rendered from vi's and some aux tracks with about a half dozen fx plugins (compression mainly). Session is almost 16 minutes long (1812 Overture if you're curious).

I'm thinking this may be video card related; I just have Radeon 6970m with 1 gig vram Apple puts in.

I have also found the PT graphics behaviour strange, with stuttering timeline. And then I wondered if PT is working on OSX 10.9.2.

There have been severe problems with Sibelius before the update to 7.5 that got rid of the slow graphics.

Thanks! I'm sorry I didn't post that before but I searched the DUC for Sandra and couldn't find anything helpful. I think that's because I'm on a Mac and Sandra seems to only be for Windows users. Am I wrong? Is there a Mac equivalent? I have always provided my system specs in my signature, though I have just revised to include hard drives... hopefully it's not taking up too much space.

A Sandra report is only for Windows users and you and I are on Macs. I guess the equivalent for us would be the OSX System Profiler.
