Default Is there a bug in the RB01 b green model ?

This is not easy to explain but I’ll try :

Take this amp model (love it by the way) with a 2X12B30 cab and a Dyn 57 off axis
(I use the rig outputs to my EMU soundcard, both outputs being at 0db, 11R amp out level is at 2.3db)
Controls left to right : 5/10/5.7/4.4/4.6/5.9/1.1
Now put the bright switch on : there is a slight volume increase (I suppose it’s normal) .
Now save the preset, or just use the tuner.
Load back the preset, or simply go back to it pushing the tuner button again.
The volume increase is gone…
“Push” the bright switch (on or off, it doesn’t matter), the volume increase comes back.

So it seems impossible to save the preset the way it actually sounds.
Strange, or maybe I am missing something ?

Thanks for having a look at this

Olivier

Do you have the latest firmware update?

There was a bug in saving tremolo settings in the initial ERXP release (fixed by the update). I wonder whether your problem with the bright switch may be related...

Thanks for your reply

Yes, all the updates.
And excepted this everything works fine.

Actually there seems to be a bug between the way the bright switch affects level and the boost.
Push the bright switch (level goes up), then move the boost knob up, and the level goes down...

If someone else from the board could try with the settings I gave, we would know if it's only on my 11R

Or maybe Chris or The Chimp will join and tell me ?

Thanks

I have tried from the I2 preset "gentle swinging" and I have the same problem.
From the preset, f.i. if you go through the tuner, there is a volume loss when you're back to the preset Same when you move the boost knob.
When you push the bright switch on or off, volume comes back

Apparently, with the red or blue model, it doesn't do this...

What's going on here ?

Hi everyone,

I have done a memory reset to see if it could change something, but it doesn't.

Moreover, I noticed that the same volume loss appears if I change the order of effects.

Same way to recover the volume too, I just "flip" the bright switch and normal volume comes back.

And it doesn't do this with the blue or red model...

Yesterday I did the last driver update (1.0.11) in case of, firmware version is 2.0.1 and protools Le is 8.0.5

So , is there a problem in my system or is it a bug ?

Chris, the Chimp ? Are you there ?

Ok so i got around to testing this and......................

You are correct.

It does seem like a very small volume increase.

At first I was thinking maybe it was just the extra treble from the bright switch. but you are correct.

You don't have to go to the tuner, hit a chord or open string and let it ring. Then slightly move the BOOST knob and the volume will drop. Then Flip the BRIGHT switch (either way relative to where it is currently sitting) and you will hear the volume increase - its the same as going to the tuner.

It sounds as if there is a decrease and subsequent increase of Input volume. Like the gain has been lost, or in this case Boost.

You can hear the loss in "hair" and volume. It cleans up just a bit when you either go to the tuner or move the boost knob.

Hi Benoni !

Thanks to have taken the time .

Yes , if you move the boost knob, or if you move an effect, the volume drops.
And for me, it's not just a bit (don't wanna make you think I'm splitting hairs ...)

So there seems to be a problem here :-(

Thanks
Cheers

Yes it seems like something gets reset each time you move the boost knob and you have to flip the bright switch back and forth and them it comes back on.

The volume drop is not major, at least according to the output meters, like a couple db at most. I think it mainly the drop in top end that makes you think its a huge drop. But strike a chord, take note of the levels on the Master fader, then move the boost knob, you will hear a small drop in level and top end (sounds like a loss of compression) then hit the same chord and the level will be very close, if not the same in some cases, but it is a more "open" sound, which suggests to me a loss of compression of the signal.

Flip the bright switch, then you will hear it is a tad louder and more compressed.

The same thing happens if you choose another amp, then go back to the 97 Green, hit some notes, then flip the bright switch, and bam. Then turn the bright switch off, and the compression and level is still there.

Yes, you are 100% correct.

I had checked the meters in PT, and it's a few db.

I know that perception can make you think it's a lot, depending for instance of the general volume of the monitors, etc, but...

Rather annoying, because I spend a lot of time with the Bogner green model in the 11R. Really responsive, great sound...

So, do you win something when you find a bug
