Eleven Rack on PT 10 different than 11 rack

Speaking of 10.0.1, I'm pretty sure someone from Avid said that would most likely happen when the HDX cards start shipping. If that's the case, that would be the end of November, beginning of December. I hope it would be sooner than that.

I have the same problem as the thread starter, got my 11r last week, the firmware is 2.0.1 but the UI files for Pro Tools are not anywhere.

I'll be keeping my eyes on this post

I just got mine yesterday and have the same issue. Not surprising. A glitch is a glitch, but I want to stay tuned to this thread.

Hey guys,

I wanted to chime in, and give you the full scoop on this issue. We verified that new Eleven Rack units shipping with the ERXP firmware do NOT include the new plug-in GUIs. Obviously, this is a massive and embarrassing oversight on our part, and we just plain dropped the ball.

To address the situation we plan on posting the full ERXP installer on our web site for anyone to download, so regardless of whether your Eleven Rack is new or used you can get what you need. This will NOT include an authorization for the firmware installer, but the GUI installer will work just fine without that. Hopefully this will happen in the next few days. Also, we are working to update new units from the factory, so that going forward this won’t be necessary.

What does this mean? In what way can you update them from the factory? Are you talking about including a CD/DVD in the package with the installer? Or a card notifying the person they will need to download the installer? Or you will roll the UI files into Pro Tools?

We are currently trying to figure out the best option.

Not trying to bust anyones chops or anything but shouldn't the 11R GUI elements have been included in any cs updates since the ERXP launched? Or at very least rolled into PT10's installer? I would presume that you could roll the GUI elements into PT10 installer and the GUI elements of the ERXP would only show up if it detected an connected 11R with the correct firmware. Am I missing something here? Is there some reason the GUI files cant be dropped into a PT9/PT10 cs update. It seems silly to be messing around with GUI files this long after the expansion pack has launched.

As far as the GUI installer goes there no reason not to make it freely downloadable. The firmware updater is of course another story.

Thats what I was wondering. What exactly happens when you hook up a non updated 11R to a machine that has the updated UI plugins.

If there is no problem, just roll it all in to 10.0.1

if there are problems, just make the UI updater a free download on the Avid site for everyone. (<---- this should be done either way)

Even better would be a standalone editor that is freely available and is auth'ed by having the 11R connected, and works in both PT and Standalone. Thats the best solution and would completely avoid this problem in the future.

I just wonder if that would have any effect on the ability to have rigs embedded in the tracks?

You could of course have the standalone editor, and keep the current editor for PT use.

Could they not just wrap the current UI plugins into a standalone app?

Yep. I also would have hoped it could have all been rolled into Pro Tools and the latest plug-in correctly work with older firmware versions (hopefully it does already I never tested it). I just cannot see a reason that you would not want to do things that way.
