Default M-Audio fast track usb help

Years ago I purchased the M-Audio fast track. The grey one with 3 knobs on the front. After a long time I have dusted it off and decided to start using it once again. My problem is that I have nothing it came with other than the USB outlet. I don't know anything about getting this thing working on my P.C. I downloaded a driver for it, but I don't know what to do now. I have no software for it either... I am a true bare bones novice and need help. Like a descript step by step on what to do. BTW I have Windows 8. Thanks in advance!!!

If you have properly setup the driver for the Fast Track, then you should be set to go hardware wise.

Now you have to make a decision on what DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software you want to use. There are some cheaper ones (usually feature limited versions), and more expensive.

Pro Tools
Studio One
Reaper
Reason
Cubase

These are just some of the options out there..

You might find some of the info here helpful - http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/h...ation-Overview. You should be able to see it listed as Windows playback and record device options (right click on speaker icon on lower right corner of desktop to select/modify them) You can try it out with Windows and/or Audacity too.
