Default Feature Request-How many tracks are selected

Hi,
maybe this has been asked before, but I couldn´t find it.

I´d like to have an indicator that tells me how many tracks are selected/highlighted or at least if the selected track I can see is the only selected track.
Whenever I want to duplicate or hide or "make inactive" I - just to be on the safe side - select another track an then the one I want to duplicate etc. to make sure I´m not duplicating/hiding tracks that are not in sight of the screen.

As an idea, the colour of the highlighted track name could be yellow instead of just white if it´s not the only selected track.

Does anyone have the same problem?

Well, I don't think of it as a problem per se, but I understand what you mean. Personally, I wouldn't feel any safer even if there was a visual # indicator telling me how many tracks currently selected. It's okay for a small number of tracks I guess, but I'd still be a little edgy.

I do kind of the same thing as you to be safe, only I hold down Option while hitting the Select button (on the console) on any already selected track. Then I select the ones I need.

I think it's just one of those things where one needs to pay special attention every time.

Never thought of that, that already makes life a little easier for me, thanks Stig.

But, did I understand you right, you wouldn´t trust an indicator to work accurately?

I'd trust the number to be correctly displayed, but I'd still wouldn't know for sure that the currently selected tracks are the right ones. You'd have to know, therefore count, how many tracks are to be selected, and that seems like a strange workflow/habit to get into for me.

Just my 2,-

I used to get frustrated by this until they added the "track selection follows timeline selection" button.

This way, whatever tracks have a selection across them in the edit window, are selected. Any previously selected tracks get unselected when you click the mouse somewhere else in the edit timeline. This makes it harder to have tracks "off screen" and still be selected. It can still happen if you use the Cmd key a lot while selecting. But for the most part it solves the problem for me anyway.
