Limit the velocity of MIDI hits?
I'm using an Akai MPD218 to input my drum tracks using XPand!2. The variable velocity on the pads is a good thing, but the range is too great. Sometimes I hit the pad too lightly and sometimes too hard. Is there any way to limit the velocity to a preset range within PT? There doesn't seem to be a way to do this with the controller.

Re: Limit the velocity of MIDI hits?
Have you tried "MIDI real time properties"?
I can't say I can recall using it for controlling live input, but I guess it would work. Anyway, it's a great tool for fine tuning midi in PT. In the edit window, right-click on the vertical keyboard of the track, and select real-time-properties.

When I right-click on the keyboard nothing happens. When I right-click on one of the keys i get that menu item and if I expand the Velocity item there is a min and max there, so I'll give that a try. Thanks! |

OK - now I've had a chance to play around with that and it seems to only apply to notes already recorded. I was hoping for something that would narrow the values while I was recording. You have to press the buttons pretty hard to get a good sound, but I'd still like some variability in the note's velocity. Any idea how I could make that setting live? |

Re: Limit the velocity of MIDI hits?
Sorry, no.
PT midi capabilities are not very competitive, I'm afraid. If you're on a windows machine, I would think there's software to do this. I'm on mac, and I never came across such a program.
