Reason Rack drops as an AAX plugin today!

https://www.reasonstudios.com/blog/r...-for-pro-tools

I'm happy and proud to announce that Reason Rack Plugin is now available as an AAX plugin for Pro Tools!

https://youtu.be/_elpJVLDYm8

When we originally envisioned Reason Rack Plugin, the dream was to let everyone discover how inspiring the rack really is. We're in a place right now where more people than ever use a vast variety of software, hardware, instruments and objects to make music the way they want.

There are elaborate synth caves wired up to one DAW; humble laptops filled to the brim with plugins and sound libraries; professional studios set-ups with a standalone program for every task; home recording setups with umpteen guitars, mics and amps; and many more variations on the theme. With AAX out the door we're not just celebrating Pro Tools support, we're celebrating that the Reason Rack can be part of any music making set-up.

But on the topic of Pro Tools, it is amazing to be back! In the early days, Reason and Pro Tools were like peanut butter and jelly (or eggs and kaviar if you're Swedish): an inseparable duo that complemented each other perfectly. With Pro Tools' industry standard audio production and Reason's vast rack of instruments and effects, it made music better all over the world. The AAX plugin makes that easier than it ever was and I'm personally excited to see all the music that will come out of it.

The AAX version is included in Reason 11.3, a free update for all Reason 11 owners. And if you don't own Reason 11 yet, it's a great time to get in on the fun!

This is good news and something many of us have been waiting for for a long time. The one downside is that for some reason Reason won't host VST plugins when used as a plugin in another DAW. In standalone it will. Makes no sense to me, but there it is.

Still, this is a great step!

You've been waiting a while but I've been holding off since Reason 2.5

Anyhow, finally took the plunge. Looking forward to trying out some long lost friends and plenty of new ones too.

Looks promising. ReWire has been #2 on my hate list right after Waves

Maybe we could get a Rewire DSP post?

I haven't used Rewire since using Reason 2.5 but I thought it used to function as advertised?

Anyhow, on with the Native AAX Reason Rack!

Upgrades discounted over at AudioDeluxe for those that need one.

Rack in Pro Tools is what it aways should have been.

Works great and it's the rack effects, MIDI Players, Reason Modules and Rack Extensions.

Use as effects (send audio to (Not since Rebirth)
Use as Synth

Much better than rewire or a hosted VST.

True that. But I believe this has only been possible since 64-bit PT11 and aax64

Seems like a full time job just keeping up with the releases these days!

Here's another.

https://www.arturia.com/products/sof...undle/overview

Looks like attractive upgrades from Arturia too, I might even bite!

3 Modulations FX €49

FX Collection + 3 Modulations FX €199

I can't see an upgrade to the all encompassing bundle which is a shame?

Wish I could get just the Bi-Phase. I was working for Musitronics in Rosemont NJ at the time it was being developed in the 70's. My main job was final test and repair for products as they came off the line along with repair of customer-owned pieces. Besides a Simpson VOM and a 'scope my main test equipment was a late 60s Strat and a Twin Reverb. I'd often get called down the hallway when they needed to hear what the circuit would sound like with a guitar. Who wouldn't have loved a job like that?

Nice! I'd be interested to see what you think of the plugin. I took a good listen to the demos. Got the flavour although I remember the real thing being a thicker, meatier sound?

I've had a good few of the Musitronics originals in my time, Phasor II, Mutron III, Octave Divider. I never did have the Bi-Phase but I used it in the studio. All great sounds for sure.

The Mutron III I bought from eBay was a batch of new old stock ones that appeared the best part of 20 years ago. These were the last ones which had the internal transformer rather than the external monstrosity. I think it was when ARP took over them before ARP went bust? The vendor modified them to 220V use on request which suited me fine in the UK. Anyhow, long gone to a new home I'm afraid.

You can get the plugin by itself but at €99 for one you might as well get the three for €49
