Default Pro Tools & Waves...

Hey Everybody...... How's it going?

How do you Guy's save you own Waves presets in Pro Tools?
Also.... Where do you save them for backup?

There's like three or four ways to do it. Man... it can be confusing.

Heres where I'm at.... and not sure which is best.

According to Waves.... they say to use the Save button on the right side of the plugin, next to their Load button and then click ...."save to new file" which saves it as the plugin name, for instance, in TrueVerb, when you click "save to new file" it would be.......TrueVerb setups.xps .... with this ."xps" extension.

Then you give it your name, choose your destination & click save.
Then click ..."Load", "open preset file" and navigate to the file you just created... "TrueVerb setups.xps", highlight it and click Choose"

Now when you click the load button, above the factory presets, you'll see "TrueVerb setups" underlined with the preset you just created there beneath it.

Or.... you can create another preset after after your first one and then again click the save button next to the load button an this time choose...... "Save to TrueVerb setups.xps As...."

Then give this preset a new name and click "OK"

Then if you if you click..... Load, "open preset file" and navigate to the file you just created... "TrueVerb setups.xps" ..... highlight it and click Choose"

The two presets you just created are listed above the factory presets as "TrueVerb setups" with the two presets you just created.

Also..At any time you can then save these presets to the "User Preset Menu"
by cliking the Save button next to the Load button .... This time choosing....
"Put Into Preset Menu As"... give it the same name as it already is an click "OK"

Now when you click the "Load" button, you'll have those same presets beneath the Factory Presets, listed under "User Presets."

Now here's the other way....... On the upper left hand side of the plugin click the arrows next to factory default and choose... "Save Settings As".... and save it to a desired location.

Now when you click "Factory default" on the upper left side you get these saved presets in the "Plugin Librarian" as, this time a..... ".tfx" file.

Which is the right way or the best way to save these Waves presets?

This can make you crazy.

Well it's making me nuts.

Whew....Thanks

I usually save mine to the menu so it appears without having to search for it.

That's the way I save mine, too. To me, the easiest way is the best way.

That's pretty much entirely up to you to decide - either way works, just pick the one that you prefer.

Thanks for the replies!

When you save your presets in the preset menu using....
" Put Into Preset Menu As..."

I believe they're being saved with all of the other Waves factory presets and in the folder where all of the Waves .xps preset are there is no way to distinguish ours from the factory one's

So then what do you guy's do back them up, because in the event you have to uninstall and reinstall Waves you will lose your presets?

I hear ya... But that's not what I'm talking about.

I'm referring to trying to save just our own presets when they get mixed in and embedded with the Waves factory presets which is what happens when you save them to the preset menu.

You could just copy/backup the whole "Plug-In Settings" folder within the Waves folder.
