Default Procontrol and Managed Networks

Hi,

Wonder if anyone can help here.

We have two Digidesign studios using ProControl. Until a week ago, we had them working just fine on our aging unmanaged network. Desks worked fine, and no clashes between the two studios.

Last weekend we re-structured to an all singing and dancing managed network. Now, whenever we plug either of the studio's into the network ProTools has a hissy fit and loses contact with the desks.

The machines are fine so long as they are physically disconnected from the network or in a VLAN that is isolated from the rest of the network traffic. But we need these machines to be able to reach fileservers, email, web etc. whilst using ProTools.

We don't seem to be able to isolate just the ProControl traffic as DigiDesign in their infinite wisdom didn't implement any addressing or document any port numbers used, just all Ethernet type 1 broadcast packets. Can anybody point me in the direction of a solution?

Cheers
Dan

Default Re: Procontrol and Managed Networks

Our solution was to install a separate ethernet card in each system.

Works well.

We're running expansion chassis on our systems, however, so the extra slot wasn't an issue.

Hope this helps.

Rick
