Default G4 PT 5.0 poor Performance

I'm getting very slow performance from my PT Mix+ G4/350/DVD/256 Since a 9.0 reinstall. I have all the recomended settings (I think.

Even in a ALL MIDI session play is is very late and meters are around .5 to 1.5 frames a second!

I've tryed all kinds of Extention, DAE, cache, mem settings. Any Ideas or things I should recheck?

There are many things that can cause this...

For starters try these...

- extensions conflict. Use a copy of the Mac OS base set with only the Digi and OMS extensions enabled.

- allocate enough RAM to both DAE and Pro Tools atleast 40 to 50 MB each for a Mix Plus system. Be sure to have enough system RAM, 192 MB or greater.

- Disk cache setting in the memory control panel should be about 512k and virtual memory should be disabled.

- What external SCSI devices do you have connected to the system? Removable drives that "sleep" can cause problems as well as any improperly terminated or SCSI ID's devices. Try minimizing your SCSI chain.

We were running a G4/450 on the most recent "Creation" Tour dates (about 6 or 8 clinics) here in L.A. and it worked flawlessly.

Let me know if this doesn't help.
